NWCA Raps Up Annual General Assembly and Election

NWCA just rounded off the last election session which is  which lasted for a week. According to her bylaws, elections are carried out within the entire NWCA LTD structure every three years. 2018 is thus an election year within the 3 tiers, namely the 43 Cooperative Producing Marketing Societies, 13 Secondary Cooperative Unions and the Apex NWCA LTD. Positions contested for include the General Assembly, Boards of Director, and Supervisory Boards.

The last elections took place in 2014. Reorganization was supposed to take place by mid-2017 but the Board of Directors effected certain changes concerning the elections period:

1)Moving the elections from September to January to avoid the difficulties of movements during the rainy season.


2)To realign the elections calendar to January in accordance with the Financial Year as regulated by the OHADA Law.


The entire exercise started with a meeting grouping all Union Managers, NWCA Ltd Senior Staff and the Registrar COOPS/CIGs for the North-West Region to revise the election modalities on the 23/11/2017 at NWCA Ltd.  The Election Modalities were endorsed by the Regional Registrar of COOPS/CIGs and sent to all the Unions.

The  elections went on smoothly and in a calm atmosphere with the following observations with the following officials elected to run the secondary cooperative unions which saw the a number of officials who were elected into all the 12 Unions which are members under the Umbrella organization NWCA.
